The department is responsible for teaching in general strategy and policy, organisation theory, human resource management, and project management and control throughout the Schools programmes.
The objective in all teaching is to provide the intellectual and technical tools which will help managers to fully understand the organisational and human dimensions of the corporation and of its administration, and to position the organisation vis à vis its strategic problems so as to contribute to its development. The teaching method relies heavily on simulation work.
The department has also made a significant contribution to the personal development component of the Master in Management 'Grande Ecole'.
The research interests of the department’s faculty concern the recognition of employees within the company, the fabric of strategy, corporate ethics, the decision-making process in the organisation, project management, skills management, territorial competitiveness strategies and management of innovation. The department makes a significant contribution to two of the School’s centres of expertise : Organisations and Territories, and Evaluation and Development of Managerial Competences Skills.
The department proposes two majors in the Grande Ecole programme (Human Resource Management, in partnership with the University of Rouen ; and Management of Non-Profit Organisations), and is also responsible for the coursework of one of the Specialised Masters : Management Strategies for International Development.
